While all at-home equipment is optional. We strongly encourage and recommend the following props and/or equipment to get the most out of your session:
- 1 Pilates Mat (or a yoga mat with a towel or rug underneath of it)
- 1 Yoga strap (bath towel or theraband for stretching also works!)
- 1 Pilates Magic Circle (optional according to your level of experience)
- 2-3 lb weights
- Light resistance tubes or small bands
- 1 small pillow or towel (to roll up under your neck)
- 2 Yamuna balls (small black ones or Golden ball preferred)
- 1 long foam roller (without ridges)
What should I bring to the studio?
Equipment – All Pilates equipment will be provided.
Hydration – We recommend that you bring a water bottle with you. Filtered water is also available at the studio.
Footwear – Pilates sessions are held in bare feet or sock feet only, no shoes in the studio. For those that prefer socks, we recommend purchasing those with grip padding on the soles.
What should I wear?
What you feel comfortable in and will allow you to move freely without constricting movement. We suggest wearing yoga leggings, or biking shorts underneath an exercise short or pant bottom and a tank or t-shirt top.
What should I expect in my first session?
Heather provides the tools, attention, and specialized support to balance and align the body. Through use of various Pilates apparatus (reformer, tower, cadillac, chair, barrel) Georgetown Pilates creates personalized, tailored and one-of-a-kind sessions that are proven to reduce pain, strengthen the body, activate the core, and improve overall well-being. Many clients experience an activation in core and supporting muscles which can feel like a “wake up” if they are traditionally underused. Clients often experience a feeling of stretch, creating length and a noticeable reduction in pain after a session on the reformer or Cadillac. The benefits will increase over time with regular practice.
How can I book a session?
You can request an appointment through our booking system here and we will respond to your inquiry within 24 hours. If the appointment is for the same day, we suggest you call or email us and we will do our best to accommodate, however as all sessions are booked privately there is no guarantee for short notice classes and we highly recommend booking your sessions in advance.
What if I need to cancel my session?
We have a strict 24 hour cancellation policy, we do this in order to maintain healthy communication between you and our instructors. If you have a change or schedule conflict, we recommend calling or emailing the studio sooner rather than later and we will do our best to accommodate any new requests and schedule changes to avoid a late cancel fee. All purchased sessions are non-refundable but may be applied to a future visit in the event of an early cancellation.
Do you offer discounts on Pilates sessions?
Yes, for regular clients we offer the option to purchase sessions in packs of 5, 10 or 20 for a reduced rate of purchasing each session individually. For this reason, we recommend clients seeking to maintain an active Pilates practice to purchase a package of sessions and pre-book class times.
